I am terrified of rollercoasters. I do not like the idea of my life being in the hands of a machine I cannot control. This is silly, I know. How many people do you know that have died from a rollercoaster ride? Probably zero but IT HAPPENS, OKAY.
Once I actually get up the nerve to strap myself into the piece of metal and it actually starts, I am okay. In fact, I love it. (Well most of the time.) SO what better to do than take a spur-of-the-moment IKEA/Six Flags trip with people we love?
From what I hear, we made a good choice by leaving Oklahoma before the cold weather hit. We spent the weekend in too hot, 90ยบ weather. We drove down to Frisco, TX late Friday night. We arrived around midnight and checked into a hotel. For anyone needing a nice/cheap hotel in Tulsa, Austin, Dallas, Frisco, Plano, Houston or San Antonio, you should check out aloft hotels. We were extremely impressed and happy with this hotel. I would live there if I could. Next time we’ll be trying out this place though.

Upon rising the next morning we made our way to IKEA and I deserve a cookie for walking out in under 3 hours and less than $100 worth of merchandise in hand. This has never happened before. My shortest IKEA trip was 4 hours and cheapest was probably $150. Oh wait, my diet will only allow me a sugar-free cookie. Screw that.
From there, came Six Flags. The nice crisp smell of dirty water and meth-rotten teeth couldn’t put a damper on our excitement. I wish I would have brought my phone so that I could share with all of you the things we experienced and saw. *Thanks to Tommie, I'm stealing some of her pictures.
Firstly, my husband is the funniest person to ride rides with. I’m pretty sure it’s just me and him that think he’s funny but that’s okay. He likes to yell and laugh and shout things about getting ready to barf on the people in front of him. Most of the time it’s so distracting from the ride being scary that it’s awesome.
Highlights:
1. Two 30 year old women wearing yellow skintight shirts with cut outs to show their shoulder blades, super short jean shorts with pink glitter trim, pony tails on top of their head and socks that said “HOTTIE” around the ankles and let’s not forget the missing teeth with black gums
2. Ryan and I ate real food for the first time in 10 days. Corndogs, I love you. (Now back on the diet we go.)

3. The corndogs were so good that I lost my mind and somehow agreed to ride Superman. I’m still not sure where that courage came from. I was trying not to freak out while waiting in line, although I don’t think I hid it well. Once I was strapped in I was trying to tell Ryan that I needed off. I could not do this. I was trying not to hyperventilate. My mind was made up. I WAS going to get off of this thing... and then the ride rose off the ground and panic set it. I cried the entire ride. There is a few second break at the top of the ride where I thought it’d be a good idea to open my eyes. I was completely wrong. I lost it. I felt like the entire park could hear me scream for my life. Needless to say, I did not enjoy this. Haha.
4. We waited in line for 60 minutes to ride my favorite ride, Batman. There were four people in front of us when the ride broke. Usually when a ride has “technical difficulties” it’s fixed within a few minutes. This one was bad because they even announced that we were welcome to continue to wait in line but they had to call the mechanics in. We chose to wait. We weren’t going to let the last hour of waiting go to waste since we were so close to the front of the line. One more hour went by and we decided to leave. We walked all the way back out, had a smoke break and then saw that it was running again. OF COURSE. So we walked back and waited another 20minutes to finally ride. All in all, it was worth it. It was just extremely frustrating.
5. It was so hot that we thought it’d be a good idea to ride a water ride to cool off. Riding the AquaMan for your second ride is not a good idea. We know this now. No one was prepared to get as soaked as we did… but then again... we also thought it was smart to stand on the bridge afterwards to let it splash us.
6. I still think the Titan is the best roller coaster I’ve ever ridden. It’s scary. It’s fast. It’s huge and it’s the longest coaster I’ve ever seen.
7. Runaway Mountain came with three highlights. ONE: There was a High school Choir Group in front of us in line that sang beautifully while waiting. Tommie was cracking me up. If they would have let her, she would have stood in their circle with them just to take it all in. Behind us was a girl, probably about 13, which means that she was really really cool and needed to show her friends and much older looking want-to-be-thug boyfriend that she was tough so during a song break from the choir she yelled shut up. Ryan turned right around and said “Really? Whoever just yelled that is rude and disrespectful.” He said much more but I won’t recite. Nonetheless I thought the wannabe-thug boyfriend was going to punch Ryan in the face. TWO: Jason is hilarious. We were waiting in line and he got down on one knee and caused a huge seen asking Tommie to marry him. (They've been married 2 years already) I believe it was probably the most romantic proposal ever. Who could say no to “Tommie, will you be the 5 flags to my 1 so that we can make 6 flags? Will you be the Batman to my Robin?” There were several more ridiculous Six Flags remarks that I can’t remember now but nonetheless people thought it was serious and it was awesome. THREE: I hate indoor black-out roller-coasters The last time I rode one I was probably 8 and I was with my mom. I screamed bloody murder and bawled my eyes out. I have not ridden one since. (Stupid Nightmare at Frontier City, you've ruined me.) Somehow I agreed to ride this. And all I have to say is that when the ride was over Jason, Tommie & Ryan all looked at me and said “Jana, are you okay?” I didn't make a single sound. I usually scream like crazy on rides but not this. When I’m really scared of a coaster I close my eyes, push as hard as I can against the seat in front of me to brace myself and don’t make a noise. I guess I’ll never be too old to do this. J
