The List: Week 20 - Childhood Memories

See the previous week here.

20. Describe 3 significant memories from your childhood
My question is, what exactly qualifies as significant?
The first three memories that come to mind are:
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. I set the dining room table once for a fancy dinner
& I didn't know what silverware went where.
My feelings got really hurt when I was told I was doing it wrong.
It's weird how you can still feel something so small & insignificant.
Usually, one mistake & I remember the correct way forever.
I still to this day have no idea what the correct way to set a table is.
Spoon & knife together, fork on the other side?
Knife on the inside or outside?
Don't know, don't care.
I'm not fancy.

2. As three sisters do, we fought constantly.
Sometimes serious, but mostly just joking & being pests.
When I was in Elementary School, I came home
& although they were joking,
I couldn't take it that day for some reason.
I'm sure I threw a fit. I don't remember that part.
What I do remember is Mallory being just old enough
to understand my feelings were actually hurt
but still young enough to care.
(Let's be honest, no teenager cares about their siblings feelings
so it was definitely before that age.)
She came in my room & crawled in bed with me
& told me she was sorry & didn't realize I was picked on at school
& that's why getting picked on at home too was hard.
She'd never remember that but I always will.

3. My Aunt Nita used to watch us when we were kids
& I hated it for several reasons.
We weren't allowed to play outside,
I was scared of the dark, especially when I knew my parents were gone
& my sisters got to stay together in Mal's room
because Nita slept in Cara's room.
I used to sneak onto the bottom bunk with Mallory & sleep at her feet.
Nita used to check on me from time to time
so I would hide from her under the bed & even behind stuffed animals
& then sneak back in my bed when she went to the other side of the house
& then pretended I was there the whole time.
I was a brat.
but at least I was a hilarious brat
& cute too! :)
