The past 6 days have been extremely hectic. I look forward to being able to relax for one night before it starts all over again tomorrow. Sorry I had to cancel RWW family, we will miss you. (For those who don’t know, our family gets together every week to be ridiculous and watch The Real World. Also, our family is really just made up of the most amazing group of friends you’ll ever meet. We are family.)
Thursday night our electricity went out for a few hours which was kind of awesome but extremely frustrating considering I was trying to clean for the weekends festivities. Therefore, I then had to do so in the dark. Our electricity finally came back on about 9:30pm, just in time for us to be getting ready for bed.
Ryan and I both threw bachelor/bachelorette parties for his brother & fiancé on Friday night. We women had a wonderful night of food, drinks and laughter. I was surprisingly less awkward than most social gatherings... must have been all of that wine. :) I was nervous starting the second I signed up for the task but once the night arrived I was excited and I think we all had a good time. It was especially nice to connect back with Megan, who was an amazing friend during Ryan and my engagement but life drew us apart for awhile. Nights like that make me realize how wonderful women are. (And how my life is in a fraternity so every once in a while it's nice to venture out to the other side.) I have to give mad props to my sister, Mallory, for doing SO much for me for the party. I wouldn't have been able to do everything without her. (Maybe I should be thanking her boss for letting her off work on Fridays just in time.)
From what I understand my husband had a great time with the guys.. considering he woke Mallory and I up coming home at 4:30am which I was not thankful for. Especially since he thinks 4:30am is a good time to let out his thoughts on how well the party went. Needless to say, I didn't hear a word. It could wait.
Saturday I was supposed to get my hair colored at 11:15am and woke up at 11. The salon's in Edmond - that was not happening. I called Kate and thankfully she had an opening the following week in the evening. I had already jumped in the car and driven about 10 minutes down the road when I decided it was impossible so I called Ryan and woke him up so we could eat lunch together.
That evening was the first OU game - which I was not willing to pay for - so we went to his dad's to eat and have fun. The guys watched the game while Wynter (Darren’s fiancĂ©), Kim (Ryan's awesome step-mom), and I hung out on the back patio and talked. I have found that my new favorite past time is talking to Kim on her back patio while we suck down as many cigarettes as possible before midnight. ;) Every conversation I have with her I come home feeling refreshed and I always have some sort of epiphany. I love nights like those.
Ryan and Kim just happen to share the same birthday, September 5th! So Sunday everyone met at Warren & Kim's for a 'surprise' (which I ruined the previous weekend) party for Kim's "42nd" birthday. ;) We hung out for a few hours and then had to get home to pick up the house for Ryan's birthday party that evening.
Ryan's party was a lot of fun. He picked out his own purple & pink tie-dye cake with "Happy Birthday Walter" written on it. We were up until about 2:30am outside so I'm sure our neighbors hate us. Which if you know me, you'll know the thought of my neighbors disliking me drives me insane. I wish I was best friends with my neighbors. :)
Monday Ryan went and spent some time with his mom in Chickasha so I stayed home and cleaned up the house and finished laundry. It wasn't what you'd call an exciting day but it wasn't relaxing either. At least I got to watch 2 movies while cleaning. And I'm not going to lie, I didn't change from Sunday @ 2:30am for bed to Tuesday 7 am to get ready for work. It was awesome.
Tuesday sucked because Ryan and I didn't get to car pool. I hate non car pool days. I miss my husband too much. I didn't get to see him until midnight last night, which means we stayed up until 2am talking like school kids. Although we're exhausted today and having to cancel Real World Wednesday; it was completely worth it. :)
I officially love you blogging.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're so very welcome. I too found it to be an unexpectedly fun evening!
